LFW: James Long Catwalk Show
James Long’s menswear just keeps getting better and better. Previous seasons have seen him explore different genres of dressing, textures and themes successfully; today he showed a collection worthy of the central position in the schedule. Long built his collection around a peach-coloured fabric with bold, marbled, paint spattered effect across it which gave a lively, artistic effect, which worked equally well in smaller patches on linings and turnups as on trousers, shorts and tops. Over this base, Long added thick, loosely-woven mohair cardigans that looked ubercosy, if maybe a little warm for a SS collection. Away from the patterns, Long’s tailored trenches and jackets were fabulous and eminently flattering. His collaborative effort with Fabris Lane resulted in sharply shaped sunglasses, but the highlight was the soft ponyskin leather jackets and shorts. An absolute win for Mr Long, once again.
