Eduardo Ponti & W Hotels’ short film- Away We Stay

How should a brand famous for their “innovative rethinking of the hospitality industry” celebrate the opening of their Leicester Square branch? Throw a mediocre party? Offer a weak discount? W Hotels confirm their interest in merging a concept hotel with the spheres of fashion, film and popular culture with a Lost-in-Translation-esque film short directed by Eduardo Ponti (Blow Up director and ‘60s icon, Carlo Ponti’s son).

Away We Stay ironically features Helena Christensen (the Danish model of “I don’t think about anyone but me” fame) as a prominent photographer disillusioned with the vacuity of the fashion world. A brash, honest and conveniently good-looking guy (the D&G model we all love to love, David Gandy) serves up some cold home truths, leaving her wondering whether to jack in her successful but superficial life and run for the sunset alongside this spontaneous stranger. Oooh it must be hard for her, mustn’t it?

With nods towards Papa Ponti’s films, Away We Stay is peppered with cameos from the likes of Nick Moran, Fenton Bailey and Tuuli Shipster and adorned with the stylings of Stella McCartney, Temperley London, Rupert Sanderson and Philip Treacy. Catch the miniature motion picture online at www.wlondon.co.uk/awaywestay from the 9th November, and try not to spend your entire day drooling over Gandy and Christensen.
