MA}ke It A Fashionable Christmas…

Not just the UK’s largest online-only fashion and beauty store and source of Friday panic buying reliant on that next-day delivery option, ASOS is also a champion of emerging new blood in the design world.  You could be forgiven for not knowing this but glancing over the brands available from the worlds of men and womenswear, it certainly appears to reach out to the newest and freshest designers forging their way through the tumultuous world that is the fashion industry.

Now however, to adhere to their commitment to nurturing and supporting emerging designers, ASOS has joined forces with the London College of Fashion to embark on their new concept MA}ke .  Selecting one menswear and one womenswear designer from LCF’s newest crop of MA graduates, ASOS has established a mentoring initiative which will culminate with both designers creating capsule collections for the purposes of being sold on the site.

For MA}ke’s debut year, the victorious 2010 graduates selected to be part of this idea are menswear designer Domingo Rodriguez and womenswear designer Youngli Lee, both joining ASOS in April.

Fast-forward to today after following the journey of their collections and gaining an invaluable insight into the business of fashion, the capsule collections are now available to buy, proving ASOS’ initiative towards the development of new talent both interesting and bearing the hallmarks of a very promising concept for the future.
