Niche Alert: Boobs Only Lesbians

This past weekend, PlanetNotion had the honour of being asked to spin some discs at the launch of new website, Boobs Only Lesbians. Yep, Boobs Only Lesbians. Working under the banner “You can touch yourself down there but I don’t want to”, the ladies behind this blog pulled off a stellar event with live music, DJs, dancing and a ‘Boobs Only Booth’. We managed to catch a few minutes with the organisers, to find out a bit more about them, the ‘boobifesto’, and whose boobs they really covet…

PlanetNotion: What inspired you to set up the Boobs Only Lesbians blog?

Boobs-Only Lesbians: A drunken conversation amongst friends that there must be somewhere between straight and bisexual, that allowed for girls to be attracted to women, fantasise about boobs but not want to have all the sex with them. And that in order to hook up and do some snogging you needed to know that they were the same orientation as you, and that needed a name, and so that name became boobs only lesbian.

PN: Have you been surprised by its popularity?

BOL: In some ways yes – we’ve never done anything like this before, and it’s been a total education. But in other ways not so surprised. Lots of girls, when we explain the boobifesto to them, go “Oh! That’s me! I’m totally a boobs only lesbian!”.

PN: Whose are your favourite boobs (aside from your own?)

BOL: Is it a total cliche to say Christina Hendricks? They are incredible. I have also watched the Jessie J “Do It Like A Dude” video about twelve times tonight. There’s some amazing grimey boob-on-boob action there. Although I suspect some of those girls aren’t just boobs-only.

PN: What was the idea behind the event?

On a very basic level, having a party with people who have all collaborated to help with the site and draw on the creative influences of our friends to embrace that. Also spreading the word, getting people talking about boobs only lesbians, and hopefully generating some fresh pictures for the blog, courtesy of the Boob Booth! Essentially though, we just want to have a good time and get other people having a good time.

PN: How did the party go for you? What was the highlight?

BOL: I had a fantastic night – I have lots of highlights! The Boob Booth (a photobooth constructed within the pub, where girls could go to get photos taken alone or with friends in whatever state of undress they fancied) was a total success. I think most of the girls did it, even people who had come in off the street nipped into the booth for a portrait or two! How many parties have you been to where that has happened? I also loved the cake, everyone singing along to the Beatles Boob Medley (“Hey Boob” etc), and the reactions of peoples faces when they came in and saw images from the site on the walls of their local! Oh and hearing a friend say it was “the best night out he’s had since moving to London”? That felt pretty good.

PN: And what can we expect in future from the BOL crew?

BOL: We have plans to expand and redesign the site, and potentially start making some money through boob related merchandise and other projects, which we’d love to reinvest in future party plans – bigger and better club nights, maybe with sexy lady dancers! We also want to put more of a focus on doing our own photoshoots and we’ve just agreed to a weekly “Boob News” feature with Vice Magazine.
