LFW: Clements Ribeiro

With a mix of patterns on the invite mixing leopard-print and a Rococo
anaglypta-style floral, Clements Ribeiro was all about the statement print.
Unlike previous seasons, Clements eschewed the bright colours (save for a
bold shot of cobalt blue on occasion) in favour of this somewhat gaudy
fabric. The below-the-knee dresses were long-sleeved and high-necked, but
retained feminity with a sensual vertical slit to the spine. Scattered in
amongst a series of commercial shapes (including a rather natty embellished
twinset), that Lacroix-style fabric looked best in statement separates,
where the contrast was amplified, rather than jarring as in the dresses.
Longer wool jersey pieces in greys and beiges with embellished sleeves
completed a collection that seems to have traded youthful, colourful
exuberance for a somewhat safer, mature look.
