Film ting: We heart the poster for Howl

Not that I want to exaggerate or anything, but I’d probably say that this poster for Howl, the new Allen Ginsberg biopic starring James Franco, is quite simply THE COOLEST MOTHERFUCKING THING I’VE EVER SEEN! (Oh, and just so you know, I’m something of an authority in this field: when I’m not writing snarky film reviews for Notion, I’m also employed as a professional scumbag at a highly prestigious advertising agency, so my opinions on graphic design should be taken very seriously..)

If you’re anything like me, you’ll no doubt be anxious to get a hold of a copy to go up on your bedroom wall next to the poster of Che Guevara and that one of the female tennis player scratching her arse.. In which case, you could basically try chiseling one off the wall down your local Arts Picture House or alternatively Soda Pictures are selling them here.

Howl is out in cinemas this weekend and is absolutely lovely. My favourite bit about it is James Franco’s voice, which reminds me a lot of one of the characters from The Simpsons, although I can’t quite put my finger on which one (Chief Wiggum possibly?)

There’s a glowing review of the film in the current edition of Notion. Actually, it’s a bit of a shame they decide to go with press quotes from The Evening Standard and The Mirror on the poster. They could always have had:

“I liked the bit about anal beards” – Matt Harvey, The Reel Deal.

Jus sayin..

-Matt Harvey
