Girl Power: International Women’s Day

If you’re not following Annie Lennox on Twitter, you may not know that it’s International Women’s Day today (she’s been tweeting about it lots).  Let’s face it boys, we’re the superior sex: better drivers, better at learning, we eat better diets, we’re more socially apt, we’re healthier, we’re surviving the recession better than you and, best of all, we live longer!

So to celebrate why women are so bloody fantastic at Planet Notion, we thought we’d show you why some of our favourite femmes are so effing cool.

Jessie J

“I want to help people and want to have a purpose and I see my songs as emotional, therapeutic pop music… whether it makes you laugh, angry, cry, as long as it’s emotional and hits the nerves then it’s helping you.”

Beth Jeans Houghton

“I’m not going to do something if I don’t want it.  It’s not a business to me.  I have my ideas and I don’t want anybody else to have them.”

Lady GaGa

“Im changing the world with what I do, but there’s a sense of humour about it.  I’m not singing about politics or the environment- I believe in saving the world with happiness, with joy, with a good time!”

M.I.A.

“My mum didn’t have that many opportunities… but she wanted us to have a good education and to do well and stuff like that.  To me, it was always a thing not to be dependent with three kids.  I wanted to stand on my own two feet.”

Anna Calvi

“When I’m playing, I feel like I can really express myself.  It’s a moving, powerful experience to let myself go with the music.”

Thank God it’s International Women’s Day!  Equality for all!  Hoorah!
