Actress: Wolverhampton is like Mordor

Underground tech-producer Actress spent about ten-seconds answering Kara Simsek’s questions. Gain an insight in to the psyche of one of the UK’s hottest tips right here – or perhaps not. Props to him for name-checking Lord Of The Rings, though.

Notion: What’s the latest with Werk Discs? Any new releases, signings, or news?
Actress:
No

Notion: Why did you decide to release Splazsh on Honest Jon’s Records instead of your own label?
Actress: Because they asked me too.

Notion: Did you have much interaction with Damon Albarn during the writing and production of Splazsh?
Actress:
Yes.

Notion: What equipment do you use to record?
Actress: The brain.

Notion: How have your Wolverhampton roots influenced your music?
Actress: It’s like Mordor.

Notion: Where does the slightly funky element of your sound come from?
Actress: It’s locked in my DNA.

Notion: How would you describe your sound?
Actress: I’ve already described my sound through recording, the rest is up to the travelling listener.

Notion: Have you spotted any up and coming artists we should look up?
Actress: Yes, but you wouldn’t be able to find them.

Notion: Are you working on any new material at the moment?
Actress: Yes.

Notion: What can people expect at the DazedLive show?
Actress: Me playing records.

Notion: Why the name Actress? What does it mean to you?
Actress: I am actress.

Cheers for that. Really appreciated.
