Fashion’s All Seeing Eye: Stylesight

Trend forecasting websites are a resource integral to running a commercial fashion brand. They set the tone for the season ahead through extensive cultural research across every aspect of lifestyle, thus enabling brands to know what you the consumer will want 24 months in advance. Sadly they’re wildly expensive to subscribe to and so smaller fashion labels often fall by the wayside, unable to keep up with our fickle cultural collective conscious. Stylesight aims to change this by inviting young designers from across the world a free subscription. This breathtaking source of information is being opened up for the first time with a view to nurturing young talent and giving small businesses a fighting chance against the big guns. This group of young bloods is known as The Young Designers Council:

Mary Katrantzou – It’s such an integral tool for any fashion business. I think it opens your mind to the different developments that are happening in the industry. It could be new fabric technologies, new markets, anything and everything!

Ada Zanditon – l’m pleased for the opportunity to be part of a group involved in such a flourishing project. Stylesight’s immense image archive helps to inspire and also inform with its extensive historical links and resource information. All trends and garment silhouettes are thoroughly researched from covering multiple designers’ work, which also lends hand to media coverage on different designers.

Charlie le Mindu – This is going to be so useful for me. The manufacturing contacts and tips are great. I tend not to follow trends though. I don’t want to be lead by trends particularly, but Stylesight has lots of great tools on it. For example if I’m making an outfit for Gaga it is a really quick way of sourcing images and colour swatches for a mood board.

Asher Levine – Because I’m transitioning from conceptual collections to the more commercial I think Stylesight will be very useful for developing a collection for a wider market. I think one of the most interesting tools for me is to be able to see what is in stores across the world without leaving New York. This is great for me as I’ll be selling in Paris soon so it’s good to keep an eye on the global market.
