By now, you’ve probably seen the festival guide with Metronomy talking to us about their new album, The English Riviera, their relentless touring schedule, and the seamy underbelly of living by the seaside (if you haven’t already seen it, why on earth not? Head here immediately to check it out).
So we got talking and the band have put together a mix of their own songs, remixes and little snippets to put a new slant on the record. Entitled ‘Hyper – A Metronomy Mixtape’, it’s an inventive reworking of current and older songs, seamlessly mixed together into a 30-minute melting pot that spins all of the songs on their head and melds them together with driving dance hooks and sampled beats. Naturally, we love it and we’ve already been playing on repeat on the Notion stereo.
A tracklist? According to Gbenga, the band’s bassist, it’s more of a loose tracklist; “I say ‘loose’ because some are just acapellas or other little snatches of songs as opposed to full tracks.”
