Street Style #2: 5 inch and Up
This week the limelight shines brightly upon the bohemian silhouette of Sandra Hagelstam – the beaut and brains behind 5 inch and up.
Sandra is a London based, aspiring fashion designer with a particular love for one-off, kooky finds and the most exclusive jewellery firsts. Her staple wardrobe compiles billowing sheer lengths, boho prints a plenty and brave colour clashes, all drawn together through the juxtaposition of an audacious, statement shoe.
Sifting through page upon page of Sandra’s blog, I struggled to assign favouritism to one, perfect outfit – they are in abundance. I finally decided that this look showcased her signature style at its best.
The little grey dress (it’s actually separates but shh) is feminised by the lusciously light, girly-print kimono (no less than vintage, of course) that floats beautifully with the tiniest gust of wind. The simplicity of the super textured dress and the pretty, rippling sheer works in perfect harmony to create a contemporary take on power dressing. Add to the mix, Sandra’s token handful of metallically-clad fingers and Wang’s latest high-heeled shoe / sandal offering and this, ladies and gentlemen, is what you get.
The lack of clean lines, plentiful proportions and mismatched prints all play a key role in nailing Sandra’s style mantra; dare to be different. The epitome of contemporary hippy-chic, she frequently graces the ‘style crush’ pages of various big name brands. And so now, we’re jumping right on that bandwagon.
