The sweetest music festival, Summer Sundae, is in it’s eleventh year and has come a long way since it’s humble beginnings as an one-day event. It is now a full weekend extravaganza, running 12-14 August, and takes place on the lovely grounds of Leicester’s De Montfort Hall.
Exciting news for this year’s festival goers, is the return of the festival’s cherry topping with Phased and Confused. For those who may not be familiar with the event, you can expect some words and music that will be sure to impress! The event will take over The Cabaret Tent and Bandstand Stage for a few hours every day, plus you can take a look at the new addition of the Library Tent, over in the Garden Area. There you’ll be able to thumb through a book or two, have a literary blind date, and add a line to the festival poem. Already confirmed for the on the bill for Phased and Confused are BBC Radio 4 slam chap Ben Mellor, on of The Times Top 10 literary stars of 2008 Laura Dockrill, and actor Yusra Warsama.
Also announced today are more details for the Bandstand Stage! In keeping with the Victorian theme, The Dead Victorians, a unique music hall comedy show, have been confirmed, along with a Leicester local troupe Galli Galli Theatre Company.
