The Halifax Matchmaker, reviewed
PlanetNotion intern Stevie Pearce reviews the enjoyable Halifax Holiday Matchmaker Facebook app, which is as informative as it is tempting.
I’m going to Moscow! Usually I’m not too excited about any facebook apps as I don’t really trust them, so when I checked out the Halifax Matchmaker app and found I was 94% compatible with Moscow, I took it with a grain of salt. I wanted to make sure the Halifax knew what it was talking about. So, I took a look at the app’s pages for San Francisco and New York, having lived in both places I figured I knew a little bit and could decide from there if the recommendations from the app where actually worth it, and I was impressed by what they had to offer, so I scooted back to the original Moscow page, preconceptions aside to give it a go.
It was fun looking around. In their ‘How Much Is A?’ section Halifax runs through the essentials to any good getaway. With prices for the Kremlin Tour, vodka shots, train fare, and cocktails- it helps with planning your budget, because there isn’t really anything worst then finally getting on holiday only to realise you can’t actually afford to drink or public transport costs are ridiculously high. As you continue through the adventure you can see, ‘Eat Here, Drink Here, & Do This’ section which is well researched and with places that won’t put you in a panic when you look at your bank account in the morning. The app also includes weather updates and a reading suggestion.
You can invite friends, and order Halifax travel money; basically your trip will be sorted. And even if you don’t agree with Halifax’s match, just like you don’t particularly fancy the banker your mom wants you with, they allow you to click on one of their many other destinations. But, Halifax has me pegged, which is why, I’m going to Moscow!
