Divine Doubt Film Season

The National Gallery will run their Divine Doubt Film Season from 24 September to 12 November and will explore the fragility of faith and see characters on the ultimate search for truth. The season will kick off with Lourdes, which has won awards and Venice, Vienna, and Warsaw film festivals, and explores themes of faith, doubt, death, and hope. In Cries and Whispers the legendary Ingmar Bergman goes deep into finding the strength of the soul. Middle of October will see, Wooden Crosses, which was hailed by the New York Times as one of the greatest motions pictures in history. The season closes with Jeanne la Purcelle Part II: The Prisons directed by Jacques Rivette, in which Rivette uses such stark realism that the film’s message is more poignant that ever. Each film will also be accompanied by a short film.

These are just a few of snapshots of some of the films featured in the series, and tickets are beyond reasonable at only £6 (£5 for concession). You can see the entire list below and go the Nation Gallery’s website for tickets and more info on the event.
