Street Style Spotlight: New York Fashion Week

Last week, New York kicked off the season’s proceedings in the standardly high style that we come to expect. The Lincoln centre, masquerading as the main stage, played host to the most ferocious street style playground of them all. And yes, fashion week should be all about the clothes in the shows not the ones to the shows but this is a street style column and how could you possibly not have something to say about the show goers? Famous and infamous. And so, in fitting with the bi-annual event, the street style spotlight shone across the pond to have gander at who and what are gracing the city’s goings ons with their presence. These lot shone the brightest.

An unadulterated fashion blogging superstar, Susie Bubble paid her dues as a true British style representative whilst over in the states. To me, she encapsulates all that is British about fashion; the audacity to experiment. Fabrics, proportions, textures, prints, cuts and colours; she owns the term street style pin-up. She has been papped here, there and everywhere during the past week’s fashiony frolics. See her blog for the unedited versions of all her adventures.

Linda Tol and Niels Oostenbrink are the dynamic duo (“a gay and a girl”) behind lifestylehunters.com whom I discovered through asos’ blog. The pair opted for self-coined ‘predgy’ (preppy-edgy, appaz) attire to attend Tommy Hilfiger’s SS12 offerings. Linda chose a neutral colour palette of mis-matched proportions with subtle pops of metallic, in-fitting with the house’s signature style. Niels, on the other the hand, braved an unorthodox mis-matching of colours, the Cambridge satchel providing the focal point; a much-loved item on the streets of NYC, my research leads me to believe.

Finally, I have no idea who this girl is but woah isn’t she cool!? A full-on, pleated, leather dress teamed with Prada flatforms; ingenious combo. The photo credit goes to Phil Oh for this one. If anyone knows who she is, do share. I’d love to have a nosey into more of her wardrobe.

Thank you New York, you have been amazing. Next stop; London.
