In the Fashion God We Trust
If fashion was a religion, as many may claim it to be, that would make Vogue the Bible, and Fashion Week Christmas, or perhaps Easter, depending on your outlook. With this in mind, why not pay an almost religious homage to your favourite fashion saint and wear there likeness on a string of rosary beads from Defiles* of Paris by Nathalie Queyraud. Imagine then, a St Christopher charm, a kind of talisman to survive the shows. “Fashion Protection: In the Fashion God we trust” is the opening statement of Queyraud’s website, and identifies designers, members of the fashion press, and any number of fashion superstars as possible candidates for this role of guardian angel.
Nathalie is described on her website as ‘a sparrow of Paris’, her ‘curious eyes takes us with humour in the world of fashion’ with this whimsical little line of hand-made and enamelled jewellery, and is the perfect way to go about some good old fashioned icon worship in the most wonderful way. Including many favourite preachers of the fashion gospel you’re bound to find your patron saint. With Anna Piaggi and Kaiser Karl to Jean Paul Gaultier and a certain Miss Wintour- the glamour gang is all there. So this Fashion Week if you can’t make it to the front row with the holy people why not think about wearing them spiritually on your person. All I can say is: in the Fashion God I Trust!
