The ‘W’ Factor: Corrie Nielson
This is first of SS12 London Fashion Week (LFW) series of the ‘W’ factor. Where contestants, oops I mean designers I critiqued on the wearability of their designs.
Up first is Corrie Nielsen…
When her models initially came out I thought nothing too outrageous. A couple of pieces were quite ‘businesswoman’ like. Which is always a good sign for the average woman on the street. Then I saw the ‘avant-garde’ in her designs as more pieces came through. The silk, satin and chiffon fabrics had clever twists; bustles were in front on the hips instead of behind. The theme was ‘The East meets the Victoriana”. I loved the contradiction of Japanese-styled hair and Kimono looks with the Victorian inspiration. It worked beautifully.

You still need to be into ‘fashion’ to wear this collection due. This was subtle avant-garde. The models had no problem working the clothes on the catwalk as they were all so easy to wear however elaborate the details.
I really liked this collection a lot. A comfortable, stylish collection, that women of many sizes can wear – not exclusive to the size 0s of the world.
My final decision: I give it 8 out of 10 for ‘wearability’. Corrie Nielson SS12 collection definitely has the ‘W’ factor.
