Still not a big name by any stretch of the imagination, James Small knows how to pull in the crowds. His most recent promo film was a collab with Jaime Winstone and Vauxhall, and only bloody Kate Moss was in the front row, with Hince/Frost completing the Primrose Hill power triumvirate. Slebs aside though, what was the collection? Well, it was bloody great. Small stuck to a simple, shorts-suit silhouette, rendering it in velvets, florals, sheers and damask silks. Tailoring was neat and simple, with showstopping outfits (Dirty Sexy things’ BB in velvet leopard-print short shorts anyone?) and a higher waist creating a wearable, credible shape that – while somewhat hipster – definitely pleased the assembled fashion crowd. Floral-printed jeans were my highlight, but to be honest I could see myself in anything from this runway next summer (yes, even the leopard shorts), and I’m not sure I can give higher praise than that.
