LFW: KTZ – Show Report

KTZ’s offering for SS12 was a hard hitting and stunning fusion of the Maasai culture with this season’s favourite fetishized punk rock aesthetic. The embodiment of Attitude, the models stomped down the runway to heavy, thundering beats; demonstrating once again KTZ’s ability to effectively combine music and fashion in creating a truly electric spectacle.

Delicate and sheer cottons came to face to face with hard, studded leathers while brighter graphic prints were met with an exciting clash of tribal jewels. Both tailored and more flowing silhouettes ensured a feminine quality to the women’s pieces and an androgynous masculinity was embraced for the men, best illustrated by the gladiator style leather skirt which made more than one appearance. The blurring of the gender boundaries continued as each model was decked out in tribal accessories and gloriously chunky gladiator sandals or heels. Elaborate prints brought an interjection of colour into what was, for the most part, a very black palette. Very punk, very warrior, very wonderful.
