EAST POPs over to the West

East is East, Damien O’Donnell’s 1999 film, deals with the nature of Britishness, among other nationalities, and what it means to consider yourself a Brit. For East Londoners, the East is the cultural centre of the city and conjures up images of the cool, the new and the experimental. Many a ground breaking artist, musician, designer has emerged from the depths of the East London creative vortex. And EAST POP is a brand spanking new venture by Red Gallery London hoping to bring the creative talent from the East and introduce it to West London and even beyond the city’s parameters. Starting on Friday, and running for three days until 1st October, they are hosting EAST POP WEST, a celebration of contemporary art collaborations and the chance for East and West creatives to engage directly with one another. So why not POP along and say hello to your talented and geographical neighbours.
