Khalid Rafique is the brainchild of Shells and his new single ‘Arctic’ consists of two impeccable tracks entitled ‘Arctic’ and ‘Spiders’. And if you haven’t heard of him yet then you must know he’s doing quite alright for himself – with a series of singles and EP’s already under his belt on top of current gem ‘Arctic’, which sees Rafique consolidate his euphoric electronic into dance floor material.

Building from reversed synthesizers and glacial guitar sounds, ‘Arctic’ amalgamates angelic, errant signals, understated basslines and seductive vocal samples to conjure a memorable listen. ‘Spiders’ then follows in a maze of syncopated Tenori-on noise littered with driving kicks and intricate weaves of synth noise.

And if you like what you hear then Shells will be performing live this Saturday at East London’s Lati Ri as part of the Downstairs Music night.
