‘Anyone Can Play Guitar,’ apparently.

Although the title may be somewhat dubious (believe me, I know that not just anyone can play the guitar), the event certainly promises not to be. Following its initial success, Sonic Cinema returns to London’s BFI Southbank with the UK premiere of Jon Spira’s music-doc ‘Anyone Can Play Guitar.’

Set within Oxford’s small-town music scene and spanning a good 30 years, the film is narrated by Stuart Lee, and documents the experiences of bands such as Radiohead, Foals, Supergrass, Ride and The Young Knives. Spira interviews bands, promoters, label bosses and journalists, celebrating the bands that made it big, as well as those that didn’t.

For some post-screening fun, Spira, Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, and Ed O’Brien and Gaz Coombes of Supergrass have been persuaded to take part in a Q&A hosted by BUG front man Adam Buxton, so you had better get those question-forming thinking caps on now. And just in case that wasn’t enough fun for you, there will also be an ‘After Show’ party. I say, jolly good.

The film starts 8pm sharp, Friday 4th November. Be there or be square. For more info look here: http://www.bfi.org.uk/
