Open Eye Gallery Preview

The Open Eye Gallery, is one of the UK’s leading photography spaces since 1977, and is the only gallery dedicated to photography in the North West of England. Next month represents an exciting milestone in the history of the gallery as it moves to a brand new especially-built home, twice the size of its former habitation.

Re-launching on the 5th November, the new space is a mere snapshot away from the Tate Liverpool and the Albert Dock in the heart of the city’s cultural quarter. With three new exhibition spaces there will be even more to gaze upon. Opening with Mitch Epstein’s award winning American Power series, there are a number of events to look forward to, including Magnum photographer Chris Steele-Perkins’ The Pleasure Principle and opening in January, an exhibition curated by UK photographer Martin Parr in January focusing on the culture club of the celebrity.

The gallery’s exterior wall will be used for large-scale ‘Wall Work’ commissioned pieces, the first being a new artwork by S Mark Gubb. Sounds good, don’t it? Time to bust a move on over to Liverpool then.
