Brace yourselves everyone, PlanetNotion have got some very delightful news in store for all of you. This winter via Cyber Dance Records, comes the widely anticipated self titled album by Ali Renault – formerly one half of the commended duo Heartbrake.

Ali has crafted a stunning, nocturnally-minded LP that is equal parts Detroit, Rimini, The Hague and London. The best types of electronic throbs are all present. Italo, cosmic, EBM, hi NRG, original electro, synth pop and techno have been melted down and fused together into new shapes – simultaneously familiar and fresh

With months spent perfecting his mechanical music, Ali has produced an album that brings technicality along with a dark presence that heavily fills the dancefloor. Opening with ‘Snowdrift’, one of only two sung tracks featuring Marika Gauci – London based band Hotel Motel, the track edges away from the sound of Heartbreak into a dreamier italo sound.

From the mournful beauty of ‘Mont Chaberton’, the undiluted electronics ‘Zombie Raffle’ to percussive throbbing that is ‘Fagan Run’, Renault already inputs feeling and personality into the mix. With the rest of the LP echoing the spacious electro funker in ‘Dignitas Machine’, the iconic disco beat ‘Fade Away’ that features vocals from 1980s Italian disco ledgend Fred Ventura. Renault finishes with ‘Smearing The Edges’ and ‘Flies A Kungan’, bringing a faster tempo the end of the mix that sheds some light prior dark and shadowy depths of his earlier tracks.

For nearly a decade, Ali has built steady momentum through an impressively multi-genre-d attack. As well as his own releases, Renault co-runs two labels: the stark electro imprint Human Shield, and original Italo-disco revivalists Cyber Dance.

With years of knowledge and experience under his belt, Renault is a musician that pours emotion into everything he does. Composing a fiercely disco throbbing album, Renault has the true Italo electro sound nailed; it’s a true work of art. It should not be missed!
