New Video: Caged Animals – ‘Piles of $$$’

When you first watch “Piles of $$$”, you’d be forgiven for thinking Vice TV had got their hands on the original video and morphed it into this sardonic slice of sheer entertainment because I did too. But despite its auto-tuned, synthetic vocal and questionably humorous title, the synth-drenched track is terribly ace, which is indeed why Caged Animals were recently our BOTW.

The video, in all its anti-narrative splendour, was directed by Ace Norton. Watch on as singer Vincent Cacchione and fellow Caged Animal and real-life girlfriend, Magali Charron, race from shop to shop in a captivating, contemporary re-interpretation of Bonnie & Clyde.

Spoiler alert: As the track gently motors along and Vincent Cacchione croons, ‘I just want to set this town alight with my pile of money,’ he does exactly that – sets fire to a trail of items, oh and himself. It’s not as horrific as immediately suspected though, as Cacchione reveals his deepest desire is in fact to play a blistering guitar solo covered in flames. Each to their own I guess.

The album ‘Eat Their Own’ by Caged Animals is out now on Lucky Number and for more information on the band, check out their website here.
