SS12: The Voice
The summer of London’s 2012 Olympics is not long upon us. For the dwellers in London, July and August’s forthcoming games seem like a haze of downright hassle – too many people, hotter and even fuller tube rides, longer queues (my stomach is churning). No, at Notion we are not fans of the Olympics. Nor are we usually fans of expensive suits (because we can’t afford them), but menswear label Alfred Dunhill has managed to change our tainted perspective reminding us of the true iconic sportsman and marrying it nicely with fine tailoring.
Dunhill have recently launched their SS12 Voice campaign. With the backdrop of the Olympics, the label is running a series of videos featuring famous Olympians. The athletes give their words on experiences and tell of their inner, intimate thoughts on what exactly makes them who they are, sharing what has inspired them throughout their career. This month sees British Olympian Sir Matthew Pinsent and double gold medal sailing champion Iain Percy as well as young Olympic hopeful Louis Smith.
The Voice campaign is helping to soothe our Olympic misgivings and brilliantly re-connecting us to the reality of an athlete. Brining the respect derived by an Olympian to suited menswear. Thank you, Alfred Dunhill – we have new-found love for both.
