Introducing Our BOTW: Gang Colours
The awesome Gang Colours is our band of the week. The Southampton musician Will Ozanne has made an album that we haven’t been able to take off the Notion stereo of late, and we’re not the only ones who’ve fallen head over heels for his music; in 2011, Gang Colours signed to Gilles Peterson’s exceptional Brownswood label. The Keychain Collection is deceiving in its title, track names (‘Pebble Dash’, ‘Botley In Bloom’) and aesthetic (a piano adorned with family photos graces the album cover) – as safe as it may come across, the record is nothing like it seems at face value. The volume is made up of electronic headphone music, introspective with an RnB influence, delicately detailed, thoughtful and subtle. This week we’ll be bringing you an interview with Ozanne, followed by a video and track, as well as a review taken from the current issue of Notion. For now, though, read editor Michael C Lewin’s piece on Gang Colours in the new issue.
