Introducing: Rhye

Planet Notion was introduced to Rhye no more than a month ago. Soon after some careful research, we watched the NSFW yet incredible video for their first single, ‘Open’, which suitably was released on St Valentine’s Day. It opens with the beautifully original lyrics ”I’m a fool for that shake in your thoughts, / I’m a fool for that sound in your socks, / I’m a fool for your belly, / I’m a fool for your love”.

There’s not a lot of information on Rhye that we can find, but we can tell you the following details. They are a duo, from LA/Europe. They’re signed to Innovative Leisure, home of Hanni El Khatib. Their debut track was debuted on The Fader, and was then reblogged a kazillion million times. There is a fuzzy video of them performing said song to a very intimate audience on YouTube. They have done one email interview so far, in which they say that they want to remain anonymous for now if only to keep listeners focused on the music, that collectively they have been in more than ten bands, that packaged foods are evil, and that they have finished their LP which is yet to be mixed and mastered. It has been speculated that one half of the duo is Milosh.

Rhye at the moment remains with just six official tweets and one Tumblr post to their name. This is clearly just the beginning for the elusive act and we have no doubt that they will at least match the perfection that is ‘Open’. We’ve already ordered their debut EP; you should too. Listen/watch ‘Open’ below.
