Club Beat #34: A New Favourite: Ruben Mandolini – Snatch!027
So what’s got us chair-raving this month? It has to be Ruben Mandolini’s latest release on Snatch! Records, containing a certain track that’s been on heavy rotation in clubs and on radio shows over the last few weeks. Planet Notion is here to tell you all about it.
Italian musician, producer and DJ, Ruben Mandolini has been taking the beatport house charts by storm. Releasing tracks through labels including Lapsus, Fahrenheit and Snatch!, he has received support from DJs like Pirupa, Riva Starr, Mihalis Safras and Stefano D’Andrea. His productions range from house, tech house, techno to minimal and we’ve found releases like Insert and Borderland irresistible. We’ve already witnessed enthusiastic reactions to his tracks by fans in London clubs, now take a look at this video of him playing his remix of Tommy Fly’s In Da Beat at Club 999 in Prato, Italy. You can catch Ruben spinning on Saturday 2nd June at the MUV Music and Digital Art Festival at Fortezza Da Basso, Italy. But if you can’t get there or simply can’t wait until then, listen to the latest Snatch! Mix Show for an idea of the sound of his live sets and to hear some of his latest productions.
Ruben Mandolini’s EP, released on Snatch! Records on 7th May, has been an instant success. Snatch!027 contains three tracks and a bonus track. Also! samples Blaze’s My Beat, updating it to create an addictive house hit. Proving popular on dancefloors and having been charted by various top DJs, Mark Knight even named it his ‘killer cut’ on his Toolroom radio show #112 (17.05.12)
Modular Love is a really cool house track with a big bassline; whilst the DJ Tool remix of Also! is a stripped down version of the original. My Mind samples The Bucketheads’ The Bomb and completely reworks the vocals; you’ll be singing, ‘These sounds fall into my miiiiiiiind’ all day! Already receiving widespread recognition, you’ll be hearing these tracks again and again over the summer.
Our new favourite, we’ll be keeping an eye on Ruben Mandolini. Snatch!027 has garnered some excellent reviews with Pirupa calling it “The best dancefloor EP to date on Snatch! Records” and DJ Mag ES making it their single of the month. We’re now looking forward to hearing Ruben’s next release…
