This summer, Toolroom have got it covered with their ‘Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol.1’ compilation and their return to the legendary Space, Ibiza, for their summer residency, ‘Be presents Toolroom Knights’.
Voted number 1 club in the world in DJ Mag for the second consecutive year, Space, Ibiza, has joined forces with Toolroom Records to bring you Be presents Toolroom Knights. Every Wednesday the terrace at Space will play host to an array of artists, including Umek, Michael Woods, D. Ramirez, Funkagenda and Stefano Noferini. One night to look out for is 8th August where you can catch Pete Griffiths, Sander van Doorn and Mark Knight going B2B with Fedde le Grand. There will be debut performances from the likes of Green Velvet, Riva Starr and Sharam with Kaskade and Kelis doing a live PA on 4th July. Be residents, Marco Loco and Oscar Cano, complete the line-up each week. Our pick for the season has to be Manuel de la Mare and Alex Kenji returning on 19th September after a stunning B2B set last August. Space is the only place on the white isle to catch Mark Knight spinning this summer and he will also be doing some intimate invite-only gigs for a lucky few. Expect to hear big hits, exclusives and tracks from Toolroom’s latest release.
When Toolroom release their Ibiza compilation, you know summer has truly arrived. Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol.1 consists of forty two tracks and three mixes. There are nineteen exclusives, including the groovy Damage at the Disco by Filthy Rich & Bass Kleph, Matt Smallwood’s tough and techy Keep Comin’ and Hardwell’s tech-influenced progressive track, Three Triangles. The compilation brings together several styles of house with some techno as well, showcasing big hits like Manuel de la Mare & Alex Kenji’s aptly titled Acid as 303, the very addictive Reaper by My Digital Enemy and Prok & Fitch’s remix of Todd Terry & Sound Design’s Bounce to the Beat, a mainstay in every house set after its release in February. The compilation also introduces us to some new names with Hal Incandenza’s melodic Ventura, Taurus & Vaggeli’s electric Downtowners and one of our favourite tracks of the collection, Nathan C’s energising God’s Love. One of the best aspects of any Toolroom compilation has to be the three mixes that accompany the tracks. The poolside mix boasts nu-disco flavours and deep house grooves with tracks from artists including Maya Jane Coles, Maceo Plex and Mark Fanciulli. The club mix is full of big room tracks and releases from big hitters like Funkagenda, Paul Thomas and Afrojack. The afterclub mix is a tougher tech-house affair with releases from Kaiserdisco, Jay Lumen and René Amesz. There really is something in this compilation for everyone.
So, we’ve got the soundtrack sorted and the club nights scribbled into our diary. All that’s left is to get down to Space each and every Wednesday throughout the summer. Catch you there!
