LCM: Astrid Andersen

With a soundtrack so thumping it shook paint off of the ceiling, the industrial setting of London’s Old Sorting Office was the perfect backdrop for Astrid Anderson’s heavily sports and boxing influenced SS13 collection.

With ripped muscles and slick hair, models stormed the runway in ‘Astrid Anderson’ emblazoned mesh vests and long boxing-style shorts in a masculine palette of burgundy, grey and black. Emphasising Anderson’s trademark sportswear influences, the designers use of nylon fabrics in crop tops, jackets and elasticated trousers fused high fashion with wearable performance wear.

Juxtaposing the masculinity of such fabrics and the masculine aesthetic of her loosely cut, muscle emphasising collection, Anderson infused neon printed sheer tops and leggings – layered under trousers and nylon tops – for a look that seamlessly contrasted the feminine with the masculine in a remarkably natural manner.
