Standing calmly backstage, with a mere 20 minutes before the show’s scheduled start time, Nicole Farhi appears a beacon of serenity in an otherwise crowed room of people talking into ear pieces and glancing constantly at their watches. When you’ve presented as many collection’s as Farhi has, I guess you loose a few of those pre-show butterflies along the way. Perhaps it was all the time spent researching the latest collection, inspired by lovely Brighton, that left the designer so serene.
Pyjama-like shirts, jackets and trousers sat aside relaxed chambray tailoring and breton stripe sweaters. Meanwhile sportswear influences crept through in the form of elasticated hem trousers and nylon looks, contrasting the suaveness of white and black double breasted jackets with peaked lapels. Combined with towelling fabrics and a luxurious colour palette of pale blue, shades of plum and sand, this was a collection perfect for a trip to the countries most famous pier. That, or the south of France.
