New Music: Opossom ‘Blue Meanies’
Formed out of New Zealand’s acclaimed ‘troublegum’ punks The Mint Chicks, Kody Nielson’s new band Opossom engage in a psychedelic sun-drenched guitar pop sound, with the beatnik vibe further personified by the home-written and recorded production, making for a diverse and surreal mix of out of context hallucinogenic styles that further dilate Kody’s Polynesian background. With UK and European dates due in the autumn Kody will be joined onstage by former Mint Chick Michael Logie and collaborator Bic Runga.
