Opening Ceremony verses Adidas Originals collaboration

Exciting New York based design house Opening Ceremony have teamed up with Adidas Originals to create a gorgeous menswear capsule collection. The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection celebrates the outstanding achievements at the London 2012 Olympic games.

As a brand Opening Ceremony are inspired by the founder of the Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. In 1896, he moulded what the Greeks had created into a modern day business venture. The Olympic Games were founded upon the basis of creatively merging sports, business and global participation. Opening Ceremony strives to adapt these elements towards fashion. Each year Opening Ceremony introduces a new country to its home team. This year it’s Team GB.

The collection uses Adidas’ classic, sartorial swim and cycling design details, whilst giving a subtle nod to the 90s revival that is all over high streets and catwalks alike at the moment.  The contrast of that athletic tailoring with playful prints in patriotic colours and Opening Ceremony’s graphic floral prints creates a surprisingly modern and refreshing aesthetic.

The Opening Ceremony collaboration features all of your classic favourite Adidas Original staples, reworked into a fresh, fashionable but wearable sports and lifestyle collection. Available exclusively in prestigious London department store Selfridges, the collection’s prices range from £75 to £255.

Keep your eyes on the opening ceremony website for a ladies range and a footwear collection to follow.
