Beautify: On Planes and Nail Bars
Notion’s beauty editor Emma Hoareau kick-starts our new beauty column with this fun little piece, in which she shares photographic evidence of her experience getting a manicure with London’s MWnails, a new and smashing nail bar with quite an innovative concept…
Oh look I’m in an airplane. Row 22.

Nail varnish? What are you doing in arrivals?

Oh right! I’m in a nail bar disguised as a plane. I like it.

Still not allowed to smoke, though.

After lots of priming, buffing, filing and massaging- on goes the blue.

Woah! Now that’s some nail art!

Might as well take another photo.
This was my trip to MWnails, who kindly invited me to have a manicure at their ‘Flight Deck’ nail bar. Normally the idea of a ‘concept store’ as such can scare most people away, but when you get to sit in first class Air France seats instead of a mani-pedi chair, your treatments are plastered to the wall in arrivals-style lettering and all the nail technicians are wearing 70s jet-set uniforms- it becomes all too easy to be sucked in.
I went for glitter. Luckily O.P.I. is about to bring out even more glitter shades this season as they celebrate the release of the new Bond movie, Skyfall. Get colourful with multi-hued glitter shade The Living Daylights, or if you’re feeling a bit more spendy (or Bond girl-y) then go for The Man With The Golden Gun, a limited edition gold leaf top coat varnish infused with real 18K gold. Gold for your nails? Sure. It’s the ultimate luxury.
