Club Beat #61 – PREVIEW: Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol.2

As the end of another eventful Toolroom Knights residency at Space draws near and the closing parties of Ibiza 2012 sound out their final beats, Toolroom Records present the ultimate accompaniment to the magic of the White Isle with ‘Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol.2’.

Sounding off the season with style, this package features over forty crucial cuts across three full-length mixes. Lining up some of our favourites, you’ll no doubt recognise the summer vibes of Luigi Rocca & Piatto’s Higher Feeling. The über talented Uto Karem remixes Format:B’s Piano Man; with its groovy bassline, interesting detours and interjections of sound, it keeps clubbers bouncing throughout. Amongst all this, we have to mention Ruben Mandolini’s Also!; one of our top tracks of the year so far. Also! samples Blaze’s My Beat, updating it to create an addictive house hit. Proving popular on dancefloors and having been charted by various top DJs, Mark Knight even named it his ‘killer cut’ on his Toolroom radio show #112 (17.05.12). Nevertheless, Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol.2 does more than just assemble all our favourite tracks into one compilation nor are 99% of the tracks by Italian producers (that’s just a Planet Notion bias there – it really is more of an international offering!).

This release also brings us new sounds and names. There are tracks from Casio Social Club, Dusky and George Fitzgerald. Gone Deville’s Funk Safari stands out by virtue of its title; the track uses elements of jazz, blues and soul and a heavy, repetitive bass, all integrated through excellent production and mastering. The compilation contains upfront and exclusive tracks from the likes of Deadmau5, Zoo Brazil and René Amesz. Heavily publicised of late, Mark Knight & Marijn ten Velden’s Morena is a more chilled affair, tingling with Balearic touches. Hauswerks’s hypnotic Organ Donor is a track to lull you into the party; first you’re nodding your head, then your foot’s tapping, before you know it you’re bopping your way over to the bar. RNS’ Mosca gets us in full-out rave mode with its grooving bass and pumping synths. Finally, there is an exclusive from Mr. Mihalis Safras & Kiko, Summerland; that track is incentive enough on its own for you to buy the compilation.

With all shades of house catered for across three different flavoured mixes, Toolroom Records Ibiza 2012 vol. 2 is the definitive rundown of the hottest beats on the Balearic isle this season. You can party until sundown with the poolside mix as true house grooves, garage and nu disco beats filter through the Ibiza air courtesy of Disclosure, Supernova, George Fitzgerald and Dusky, right through to Mark Knight’s alternative outing alongside Martijn ten Velden. Enjoy the anthems of the summer with the club mix as big room progressive sounds pound out from Deadmau5, Fedde le Grand, Nicky Romero, Michael Woods, Calvin Harris, Alter Ego, Full Intention and John Dahlbäck. Conclude your journey with the afterclub mix, full of driving tech-house and rolling techno, courtesy of UMEK, Jay Lumen & Gary Beck, René Amesz & Ruell, Hauswerks and Mihalis Safras & Kiko.

Ibiza 2012 vol.2 is your definitive soundtrack to this year’s season. This compilation will keep all those party memories alive… But before the post-Ibiza blues set in, just remember: there’s still plenty more to come from Toolroom over the next few months!
