The epic, romantic, cinematic pop of The Irrepressibles has us utterly in thrall. Since their 2010 online splash for first video ‘In This Shirt’ the dreamy, hazy soundscapes of the art-pop orchestra have been firm favourites on my headphones, and we’re thrilled to be able to premiere their latest videographic opus for latest single ‘New World’. Kicking off with delicate pianos under the luscious vocal of band leader Jamie McDermott, the video is in three parts, opening darkly then seguing with an epic synthline (fans of Drive rejoice) before transforming into a sun-filled outdoor redemption in the park. It’s a beguiling, beautiful and bold way to set the band’s inimitable music to visuals and we’re utterly in love with it. But enough of me waffling on – see the full video below:
‘New World’ is part of a double A sided single with ‘Tears’, released on August 27th. The album ‘Nude’ is out Ocotober 22nd on Of Naked Design Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.
