LFW predictions: tailoring

It doesn’t take much to look smart: throw on a tailored garment and you’re ready to go. We’re so in love with tailored pieces, we’re constantly on the lookout for the perfect trousers or blazer to add to our wardrobes. Many designers displayed their tailoring talents during LFW AW12, yet three names stood out most to us; so here we are, presenting the labels whose hot tailored designs are sure not to disappoint this season.

In our minds, this label is a clear winner when it comes to tailored pieces. After introducing beautiful tailoring in blue and white hues for its SS13 pre-collection as well as for AW12, Richard Nicoll is making us think it will honour its trademark oversized style and explore the clean-cut trend by giving it a more relaxed, summery feel. We’re more than ready to see the label go for loose geometric shapes, lots of white and a peek of prints.

Todd Lynn is one for matching his smart tailoring with fur and leather so, whilst we’re not expecting to see fur in his SS13 collection, we do think he’ll be turning leather into a luxe summer fabric with some smartly tailored pieces. Remembering the subdued metals in his SS12 collection, we expect he’ll be bringing this Olympian palette back whilst hinting at the timeless androgynous trend.

If you’ve seen Antipodium’s SS13 pre-fall collection, then surely you’re as excited as we are to see what the label has to offer this season. Taking a pretty radical step away from the vibe of its AW12 collection yet still maintaining a fine eye for classic tailoring, the label seems to be turning towards fresh, relaxed, airy tailored looks for the new season to come – and we reckon this collection is set to be an amazing one, injected here and there with bits of eye-catching colour and the occasional graphic pattern.
