Conor Maynard Takeover Week: Albums
All this week, it’s Conor Maynard takeover week on PlanetNotion. We interviewed the young popstar for Notion 059′s cover and he’s put together a series of influences on his debut record for your delectation. First up, it’s Albums.
1. Justin Timberlake – Justified
You can instantly hear the influence of JT’s seminal record (now over a decade old) on Contrast. The pop hooks, the breathy delivery and the total obsession with the opposite sex; Conor definitely takes the Timberlanke baton to the next stage.
The newest album in his top 5, Drake’s record is all about collaboratively-produced songs and moving on the sound of R&B to something fresh and ultra-modern. You can hear this influence in the production of songs like Vegas Girl and’ Animal’
Another classic record: Usher’s ‘Confessions’ is one of the biggest-selling pop albums on the Billboard charts from the last ten years, and showcases Usher’s vocal versatility and some of the smoothest singles in R&B
It might only have reached #109 on the UK album charts, but Mario’s third album has clearly been a big hit with Conor. There are some absolute gems on this record, and it’s notable for marking a raunchier, more aggressive direction for the US singer.
5. Michael Jackson – Off The Wall
Doesn’t everyone own a copy of this? One of the biggest-selling albums of all time; obviously Conor is nothing if not ambitious…
