Conor Maynard Takeover Week: Tracks
All this week, it’s Conor Maynard takeover week on PlanetNotion. We interviewed the young popstar for Notion 059′s cover and he’s put together a series of influences on his debut record for your delectation. Today, it’s Tracks.
Drake – Karaoke
The sparse production and driving beats of this lesser-known Drake track are really noticeable in the slower numbers on Contrast.
Mario – Skippin’
There’s a real discordance and dubstep influence to this track that Mario’s smooth vocal is a great antidote to, especially as it develops with the piano. chords Together, sublime.
Ne-Yo – Because Of You
It might be a bit of a cliché track today, but Ne-Yo’s ‘Because of You’ was well ahead of its time, integrating dance riffs and a beat-driven bassline with those R&B vocals.
Michael Jackson – The Way You Make Me Feel
Another classic song: this MJ track swings into action and his emphasis and enunciation are a clear influence on young Mr Maynard
Justin Timberlake – Sexy Back
A headline-writer’s dream, this JT song over Timbaland-produced beats is one of the most recognisable pop songs of the last 10 years.
