China was brought to London Fashion Week in Huishan Zhang’s SS13 Collection. Zhang, who originates from Qingdao in china, stuck to a traditional Chinese aesthetic in his elegant designs, using an array of luxuriously textured fabrics such as silk, organza and lace.
His tailored outerwear and fabulous backless dresses with ruffle detailing were a mix of patterns including ancient birds and geometric prints.
The delicate colour pallet of mint green, blush and midnight blue hues seen in the garments were further emphasised in the models’ make-up. The mint green and coral colours reflected in the collection were brushed onto the models’ cheekbones. Combined with the double plaited ponytails, and Swarovski crystal embellishments seen on the collars and skirts, there was a futuristic vibe to Zhang’s modern take on Chinese tradition.
We like, and we want.
