LFW SS13: Zoe Jordan
Zoe Jordan’s SS13 collection packed a lot of different influences in, but failed to make an impact. It;s tough to write those words for a collection that was seemingly so universally loved, but for us, Zoe’s collection showed some pointers to design excellence but didn’t set our hearts on fire. Metallic dresses, leather caps, striped blazers and certain highlight fabrics seemed to echo previous seasons’ collections elsewhere, and while tailoring, patterns and dress cuts were all perfectly-executed (shoutout to the silk bombers), for me this show embodied a general lacklustre feeling at this season’s #LFW. There was – if not a lack of ideas – a definite lack of fresh thinking; designers, even those with prodigious talent, this season emulated and evolved previous collections; everyone played it safe. Jordan’s collection sadly followed this overarching trend, with subtle nods to many of the prevailing ideas that were around at #LFW, but without making them her own.
