LFW SS13 Interview: John Rocha

John Rocha is known for his textured, dark, verging on gothic collection. For SS13 however, John broke his vow to black and bought us some colour. Pink, red, yellow and light green all came together alongside his trademark black to create a nature inspired collection.

We managed to quickly speak to John after the show.

PN: So- wow, colour! Where did that come from?
JR: Well I was inspired by the colour in the south of France, all the colours around you and how they change throughout the day and into the night. So for me it’s a really happy collection.

PN: It’s such a huge change for you though- you’ve told me before that black allowed you to see the person and not just the clothes. What changed that?
JR: Well of course there was some black still present, but it was really all the inspiration that had come from the nature with colours changing all the time- I had to include some of that in the collection.

PN: And is that where the hats came from?
JR: Yes those were like little flowers.

PN: So you sent flowers down the catwalk?
JR: Yes, exactly!
