Introducing: LeaLea Jones

LeaLea Jones is one of the most exciting new artists to have emerged over the past year or so. BBC Introducing have tipped her for success, but that’s only one small portion of the monumental amount of backing she’s received from the industry. She’s just finishing off her debut album, which she worked on with über-established artists such as Jack Baker and the incredible Horace Andy. Plus, Lea has created her own label, Cherry Fair, through which to hone her music; she’s already teamed up with indie label First Word Records to help release her material.

Jones has written for some huge brands, labels and artists – Def Jam being one of them – but we’re only really interested in her when she’s singing her songs herself because her’s vocal is bloody sublime. Check this fucking fierce video for a single she released this summer; it’s called ‘AK47′, and I dare you not to let it get stuck in your head for an age.

And just to make sure you don’t assume there’s some heavy autotune going on, here’s some footage of Lea belting out another corker, all acoustic in the studio.

…Err, amaze! And one more: reggae vibes featuring the aforementioned Horace Andy.

Having supported international superstars like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Amy Winehouse, we reckon it’s not gonna be long until she joins them at the top of the bill. Srsly, her voice! We. Are. Obsessed.
