While there’s always plenty to be said about regressive and retro-centric trends in pop culture, UK house producer Adamski is giving the concept new meaning with his recently-forged desire to reintroduce the waltz to the dance scene.
Dubbed ‘neo-waltz’, Adamski will be performing a set of his new material with guest vocalists Viktoria Modesta and David McAlmont at Chats Palace this Saturday, October 6, with repeat performances on November 3 and December 1. Modesta, who won rapturous reviews for her recent performance as the Snow Queen in the 2012 Paralympic closing ceremony, has an impressive track record all of her own; her music as been praised by everybody from i-D to Music Week and she’s shared stages with the likes of Kelis, Robyn and Groove Armada.
There’ll also be waltz workshops on the night for anyone who needs a brush-up on their moves or suffers from two left feet. It’s sure to be an amazing evening, and one that will have you partying like it’s 1799…
