Premiere: Sun Industries – Shiver

So according to the press release, ‘Sun Industries was founded in the early 21st Century by a secretive alliance of individuals with an interest in deep space exploration and the research into the possibilities of interdimensional and intertemporal travel.’ Gosh. not what you normally get from a band, but there you go. While the conceptual waffle continues in the same vein, we’re pleased to say that the music is pretty damn good. ‘Shiver’ is based around a driving, krauty beat, overlaid with shimmering electronica and urgent vocals – there’s echoes of Bloc Party, Cut Copy and Empire of the Sun. They say: it’s “a 188-second audio recording, SHIVER is the first of what Sun Industries call a series of “transcendental sonic stimulants.”, we say: it’s a pretty brilliant pop song, and it would sound great ricocheting around a festival arena in the late afternoon sunshine. Definitely a good one to kickstart your weekend…
