Coggles Streetstyle: Amph
As streetstyle photography has evolved, so has the way it has evolved. Even the Sart is doing more story-based ideas now and expanding his blog from pretty shots of Giovanna Battaglia outside Continental fashion shows. Pleasantly, they’re all following the lead of one British retailer, Coggles. For the last few years, the Northern shop (and its excellent online sibling) have been quietly amassing, organising and storing some of the best and most consistent streetstyle photography in the world. For a while now they’ve been working on and releasing a series of streetstyle films, that delve behind the clothes of their subjects, into their lifestyles and jobs, and how these influence what they wear and the way they wear it.
In this installment, they talk to the lovely menswear designer (and sometime DJ) Amph Boakya as he goes about a typical day. It’s a really lovely look at how people live, and how their lifestyle impacts upon their sartorial choices. There’s no product placement or ‘Buy Now’ interactivity, it’s just a great video talking about a man and his love of disco records (watch out for the sacriligious moment when he puts his mug of tea on his speaker – heresy!). Anyway, there’s a whole series of them; definitely worth a look if you’ve got a mo, as is Coggles itself – maybe wait til payday for that one though!
