Introducing Our BOTW: Flume

Wikipedia may tell you that a flume is an artificial water channel. You may know the word in reference to the famous Logger’s Leap ride at Thorpe Park, or in the context of discussing water parks in British resorts such as Butlins, or Pontins.

But in this case Flume is an electronic music producer from Australia. Harley Streten cites influences such as Hudson Mohawke and Jamie xx; even though the Aussies aren’t riding the new wave of EDM just yet (with their bands preferring a bit of grungey surf), we hope that Flume will start to lead the trend on the other side of the globe.

Streten is signed to awesome Australian label Future Classic and is playing behemoth of a music conference, CMJ, right at this very moment. With that sort of backing, and with the fricking awesome quality of music he’s putting out at the moment, we’re pretty sure he is going to do just fine in blighty. Look out for some Band Of The Week-related goodies from Flume later this week.
