London In Stereo Presents… Gigs Of The Week #24

After a little post-festival season slump in the London music scene, things seem to be stepping up a gear or two on the live scene. This weeks listings from our mates at LiS are a shining example of what brilliant gigs the city has to offer – from the nu-femme-pop generation (Foxes, Faye and Syron all on one line-up), to the best in electronic music (Actress, Evian Christ and Teengirl Fantasy at one of our fave venues, The Village Underground). Not forgetting the post-recession gloomcore of Drop Out Venus (whose show just so happens to be Gig Of The Week) and the beautiful, bleak Halls who will be showcasing some tracks from his stunning debut album Ark at Rough Trade East. See the full listings below for more deets.

London In Stereos Gigs Of The Week

DROP OUT VENUS // SSERPRESS // IDESThursday 25th October – Sebright Arms
Shameless bit of self promotion here guys, but we’re having a party and you’re all invited. We’ve got 3 of our favourite acts playing in our favourite London venue, come along and don’t forget to say hi.

What She Said present their first show with one of London’s best new acts of 2012. Deptford’s DROP OUT VENUS, they started hypnotising audiences this year with their intense live shows and have gathered a massive cult following, as well as faultless reviews from all corners of the music press spectrum. They’ll be joined by Sserpress, and the stunning “sadcore punk” artist Ides.

Breton // Seams // Face + Heel – Scala – Wednesday 24th October
This gig is all about the line-up as a whole rather than any individual act (and you are a complete fool if you miss Seams). All the acts are fantastically different, from heartbreak tinged pop music to the happiest of beats get down there and discover something new.

Japandroids // Paws – Heaven – Friday 26th October
Both brilliantly loud and energetic bands, if you missed Japandroids earlier this year (especially if you missed the Old Blue Last show) do yourself a favour and make sure you get to this one. Make sure you really do it justice by getting there early and getting to the front, you’ll have a spectacular time we promise.
