Top of the Shops – Not Just a Label

Having only experienced NJAL from the other side of the fence (as a seller) it’s interesting and more than a little bit enjoyable to come back and browse as a shopper. The website works as a traditional online marketplace in order to support upcoming designers but with added extras like editorial content, competitions, films and blogger community. The stand-out element though is the collection of brands, which sits on the page like a visual graduate exhibition of directional clothing, footwear and jewellery. Perfect if you’re looking to buy into something a bit off the beaten track, and if you’re willing to pay for independence and craftsmanship. The genuine support of new talent is physically evident in the ‘blackboard’ page where seminars, workshops and opportunities for professional is posted. Favourites spotted are Sophie Cox’s Perspex and gold heels, and a minidress made of feathers by Jeffrey Michael. See? You haven’t heard of it, (yet), but you want it.
